Interviews began today for Blackburn's position
Interviews for Brevard Public Schools' superintendent of curriculum and instruction began yesterday.
This is one of the most key senior level positions in the school district.
Brenda Blackburn left the position in late February after more than 30 years with the district. She is now the superintendent of Montegomery County, Va schools.
The salary for the position hasn't been advertised and will be determined by Superintendent Brian Binggeli. Blackburn made about $120,000.
It's not yet known who her successor will be, but here's a look at who was interviewed.
- Cyndi Van Meter, current area I superintendent
- Lynn Spadaccini, director of elementary programs
- Steven Covert, director of human resources for Spotsylvania County, Va., Schools
- Monica Knight, director of student achievement and educational equality for Clarke County Schools in Athens, Ga.
- Scott Rodgers from Idaho, superintendent of Minidoka County Schools in Rupert, Idaho. According to biographical information published on his district's Web site, he is from Cocoa Beach.
